AN EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVE INSPIRED BY THE OUTSIDERS ON BROADWAY
The Outsiders is a story written by a teenager, about teenagers. To maintain this legacy and honor young voices, The Outsiders on Broadway is working with the largest school system in the country, New York City Public Schools, to ensure the show is accessible and inclusive for middle and high school students with a multifaceted initiative called The Stay Gold Project. This initiative includes:
TICKET
ACCESS
The Outsiders seeks partners to help underwrite tickets for New York City students, so cost will not be a barrier for any student to see this show.
EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
The Outsiders has committed to producing a free, interactive, educational guide that will be made available to teachers and students — whether they attend the show or not. An early version of this document is available here.
YOUTH AMBASSADOR COUNCIL
The Outsiders has invited a council of 12 New York City high school students, selected by application, to attend early rehearsals and preview performances and provide feedback, continuing the tradition of bringing young voices into the process of every aspect of this story.
